Solving two-dimensional groundwater flow equation using alternating direction implicit method

    Get PDF
Groundwater model can be described as a mathematical model and the equation of groundwater is governed by partial differential equation. In order to solve the groundwater flow equation, numerical method such that Finite Difference Method (FDM) is used. In this research, a two-dimensional transient groundwater flow equation for a confined, nonleaky, and homogeneous with mixed boundary conditions is solved using Alternating Direction Implicit (ADI) method where ADI method is one of the FDM. The algorithm of ADI method has been developed for three different types of boundary conditions that is Dirichlet condition, Neuman condition and Mixed condition. The transient groundwater flow equation has been derived and was solved using ADI method by Matlab software. Then, the results obtained were compared to analytical solution. Since the solutions from numerical method provide the small error when compared to the analytical solutions, it therefore can be concluded that ADI method provides good approximations in solving two-dimensional groundwater transient flow problem

Exchange rate of Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) forecasting using decomposition method

    Get PDF
The Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) foreign exchange rate has fallen to the lowest level since the 2008 global credit crisis [1]. Hence, the selection of countries for three selected continents in the world has been conducted to study their currency exchange rate and investigate this statement. USD, EUR and MYR currency were selected for data. The data of a daily exchange rate of USD-MYR, EUR-MYR and CNY-MYR were obtained from the official website Bank Negara Malaysia [2] and be used in forecasting process. The project objectives are to forecast Malaysia currency for future incoming October 2016 by using the Decomposition method and to predict the rate of Malaysia currency for incoming October 2016 until through assessing and analyzing by Microsoft Excel

Library is an important and beneficial place for information and resources of knowledge. According to the previous paper, the library is an open place for all people and broadens opportunities for people of all ages. The library provided many types of equipment for people such as programming addresses the health, educational and workforce development [1]. The purpose of a library is to provide any information, research information, activities for students also to support the university curriculum and support the research at university [2]. An effective and efficient academic library system is expected to contribute significantly to users [3]

Development of solar panel cleaning robot using Arduino

Solar power is mainly harnessed from photovoltaic (PV) panels which are arranged in multiple arrays in a solar farm or solar system. Though, power generation from PV solar system is characterised by uncertain efficiency, many countries with high insolation prefer solar as an alternative way of generating clean energy. However, the efficiency of energy generated from PV panels is affected by the accumulation of dust and debris, even on one panel in an array. This condition leads to the need for regular cleaning of the surface of PV panels. Current labour-based cleaning methods for photovoltaic arrays are costly in time, water and energy usage as well as lacking in automation capabilities. To overcome this problem, a fully automatic solar panel cleaning system with/without water is proposed. Hence, in this paper, the design of a robot for automated cleaning of the surface of PV panel is presented. The design utilizes an Arduino controller system to control the robot movement during the cleaning process. In addition, it is equipped with two rough sponge and a water pump system that can be used to clean dust or debris found on PV panel surfaces. The efficiency of the PV panels before and after the cleaning process is also observed. The result shows that the developed solar panel cleaning robot is able to clean the panel effectively and increase back the output current as well as the maximum power of the panel by 50%, after the dust on the PV panel is cleane

Essential oils are part of the aromatherapy agent to treat some diseases [1]. Essential oils are extracted from the flowers, barks, stem, leaves, roots, fruits and other parts of the plant by various methods. But some of the people do have a respiratory system problem that is an allergy to the smell from perfume [2]

The main constituent in our body is water. The human body composed an average of 70% of water. Human beings consist of many organs, for example our brain is about 85% of water, 90% for liver, 83% for blood and 35% for our bones. Therefore, we must consume enough water in our daily life to stay healthy. Inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene cause a lead of disease with a total of 1.81 million deaths and more than 76 million people to need lives in a healthy life
